Bed Bath & Beyond shares plummet after company warns of potential bankruptc
Bed Bath & Beyond, one of the largest online retailers in North America, said it might not be able to pay its bills as a result of a slowing economy and continued declines in consumer spending.

Bed Bath & warns that it may go bankrupt
Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. warned Friday that it might soon be forced into bankruptcy due to a multi-year decline in demand for its mattresses and other home furnishings, a move that could disrupt the holiday shopping season and further shake up the retail industry.

Bed Bath Prepares to File for Bankruptcy Within Weeks
Bed Bath & Beyond has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection as part of an agreement to settle $2 billion in debt. The company said it intends to emerge from bankruptcy by early 2016, while also agreeing to pay off $100 million in debt. The retailer will use $200 million in cash from an initial public offering expected to close in the third quarter of the year.
Bath & Beyond delivers grim warning
Bed Bath & Beyond has issued a dire warning to its customers about a potential data breach. The retailer said that hackers may have breached its customer payment processing systems, potentially exposing the credit card numbers and email addresses of hundreds of thousands of shoppers. The company said it has no reason to believe that customers’ personal information was actually taken. However, it did say that it is conducting an investigation to determine if any customer data has been compromised. The retailer said that it discovered the issue on Friday, Jan. 12. “As a precautionary measure, we have blocked transactions that could be associated with this incident,” the company said in a statement. “We have also increased our monitoring of payment processing systems.
